With an aim to make villages self-contained and sustainable, ITC has partnered with 170 village communities to build Adarsh Grams or Model Villages across 3 states of Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Karnataka. ITC's Adarsh Gram Programme is in alignment with the Government's Sansad Adarsh Gram Yojana (SAGY), an initiative concentrated on holistic rural development, derived from Mahatma Gandhi's vision of Adarsh Gram or Model Village.
ITC's Adarsh Gram initiative focuses on inclusive development. The on-ground implementation starts with the conduct of a participatory rural appraisal - an approach to incorporate the opinion of rural people in village planning with creation of village specific development menu, based on the genuine needs of the community.
