In a true and enduring commitment to rural partnership, ITC reaches out to improve the total quality of life of farming communities. In one such initiative, ITC, in active collaboration with NGOs, is engaged in the task of eco-restoration in some of the more acutely water-starved districts of the country. The twin objectives of the model it has adopted are: water conservation and enrichment of soil through measures like contour bunds and gully plugs; and harvesting rain water through biomass regeneration and construction of different kinds of water harvesting structures. A total of 8,000 acres of land have been covered under this programme in the last two years.
