ITC's Sustainability Vision and Strategy

The world today is confronted with daunting global challenges emerging from the existential climate crisis, concerns over food and nutrition security, inadequate livelihood opportunities and widening social inequity.

It is our conviction that corporates have both an economic and social purpose. With their numerous touchpoints in the frontline of economic activity, businesses can contribute immensely to shaping a secure future by embedding sustainability at the core of corporate strategy.

It is with this belief that ITC has crafted innovative models that synergise the creation of economic, environmental and social capital - a paradigm that we call 'Responsible Competitiveness'.

We recognise that commitment to sustainable and inclusive practices are not only good for the planet but for business as well. Therefore, our sustainability objectives are aimed at building climate resilience, supporting sustainable livelihoods and inclusive value chains, among others. We deeply believe that sustainable practices can also create unique sources of competitiveness whilst spurring new business opportunities.

Our large-scale endeavours towards proactive climate action focus on both mitigation and adaptation. The multi-dimensional interventions include green infrastructure and renewable energy, regenerative agriculture, water stewardship, afforestation, biodiversity, as well as promoting a circular economy, building sustainable supply chains, and innovating sustainable products. Moreover, recognising the overarching need to support gainful livelihood opportunities, ITC has spearheaded several impactful programmes to build capacity and empower rural communities. This commitment to contribute in equal measure to people, planet and profit is inspired by our credo of 'Nation First: Sab Saath Badhein’.

Reimagining sustainability under the pressing challenges of climate change and social inequity, ITC is now actively working towards Sustainability 2.0, as part of the Company's larger ITC Next vision. The goals envisaged in S2.0 will further strengthen ITC's large-scale efforts to combat climate change, enable the transition to a net zero economy, work towards ensuring water security for all, restore biodiversity through adoption of nature-based solutions, create an effective circular economy for post-consumer packaging waste and scale up programmes that support large-scale sustainable livelihoods.

ITC is the only enterprise globally to be water, carbon and solid waste recycling positive for close to 2 decades. ITC's businesses support 6 million sustainable livelihoods.
