A Succession Certificate, Letter of Administration or Court Decree may be submitted as the applicable succession document.

Alternative for simplified claims:

Instead of the notarised affidavit-cum-NOC, the legal heirs may submit a family settlement deed executed by all legal heirs and duly attested by a Notary Public or Gazetted Officer, or accepted and approved by a Magistrate, Judge or Civil Court.

Important:

Demat Conversion Form and Form ISR-4 need to be submitted where the shares have not already been transferred to the IEPF.

What is a verifiable death certificate?

Any one of the following may be submitted:

  • Original death certificate, or a copy attested by the claimant/nominee and produced for verification with the original.
  • Copy duly attested by a Notary Public, Gazetted Officer or Judicial Magistrate First Class.
  • Death certificate containing a verifiable QR code.

If the death occurred outside India:

Submit a certified true copy of the proof of death, certified in the country of issue by any one of the following:

  • Court Magistrate, Judge or Notary Public.
  • Indian Embassy or Consulate.
  • Apostille under the Hague Apostille Convention.
  • Authorised official of an overseas branch of a scheduled commercial bank registered in India.
  • Authorised official of an overseas bank having a correspondent banking relationship with an Indian bank.

If the document is not in English, also submit a self-certified English translation together with the certified copy of the original document.

Important:

  • The framework does not apply where there is a dispute or contesting/competing claim.
  • The Company may seek additional documents for claims above ₹10 lakh where necessary.
  • For physical shares, the claimant must hold the original share certificate(s), except where a duplicate-cum-transmission request is made.
  • Please ensure that names and holder sequence in the claimant’s demat account are suitable for the proposed credit.
  • Use only the latest forms available on the Portal.
