ITC supporting villages with climate-smart practices
As part of the Climate Smart Agriculture Programme, ITC is working to transform villages in its core agri catchments into Climate Smart Villages. The villages are supported with climate-smart practices along with natural resource management, livelihood diversification and institutional support to improve, insulate and strengthen agri and allied sector livelihoods as well as reduce GHG emissions.
Impact:
- Till 2024-2025, ITC’s Climate Smart Village Programme has covered 2.15 million acres across 7,000 villages in India.
- GHG emissions reduced upto 66% (2021 assessment)
- Net returns of farmers increased upto 90% (2016-2021)
- 70% of villages moved into High-Resilience, High-Yield category
