Why do we need to manage waste?

2026-08-21

Waste doesn’t simply disappear. It ends up putting pressure on our land, water and the ecosystems that keep our planet going. This is why circularity matters. It’s about rethinking how resources move through our systems, keeping materials in use for longer, giving them a second life and reducing waste. This way, we can take some pressure off our planet’s landfills and move towards a more climate-resilient future.

At ITC, we’re working towards this by tackling waste at different stages - from managing waste in our operations to behavioural change initiatives that encourage households to segregate waste at source.

So far, ITC's waste management has:

- Collected and sustainably managed 72,500+ tonnes of plastic waste in FY 2025-26.
- Reached 16.35 million+ households through programmes encouraging source segregation.
