Chairman Y C Deveshwar has won the People’s Award for Excellence in Business & Economy in the 'Best Entrepreneur' category. The award has been instituted by Business & Economy magazine, which had undertaken a mass media campaign encouraging all Indians to vote for their choice from among the nominees in each category. Voters could send their choices through SMS, e-mail and post. The nominees in each category had been shortlisted on the basis of parameters relating to their organisations like profits, shareholders wealth maximisation, revenue generated, employment generation, etc. Others shortlisted in the 'Best Entrepreneur' category were Azim Premji (Wipro), N R Narayan Murthy (Infosys), B Ramalinga Raju (Satyam) and K V Kamath (ICICI Bank).
