Worldwide, green buildings are acknowledged as an important component of decarbonisation efforts, given the rise of built environment and the consequent possibility of increased emission. The multi-dimensional impact of green buildings in terms of energy efficiency, material conservation, better indoor environmental quality among others makes it an important investment that yields beneficial returns across the lifespan of such infrastructure.

As an important part of ITC's strategy for decarbonisation, ITC has invested significantly in building future-ready green buildings that contribute to national climate goals.

ITC's Green Buildings

ITC has pioneered the establishment of Green Buildings in India across its iconic hotels, factories, warehouses, residential and office complexes. It is a matter of pride that 40 of these green buildings are LEED Platinum® certified. In our quest to raise the bar even higher, 12 of our hotels have become the first in the world to receive LEED® Zero Carbon certification while 5 are LEED® Zero Water certified. ITC Sankhya in Bengaluru is the first Data Centre to be LEED® Zero Carbon certified.

ITC's green building construction strategies are focused on enhancing energy efficiency and renewable energy, improving indoor environmental quality, conserving materials and resources, safeguarding water and water efficiency and sustainable site planning. Innovative and efficient design systems have been adopted along with other construction techniques to reduce energy consumption of buildings and contribute to the health and productivity of its occupants.

Recognising that LEED Platinum® certified green buildings are 30% more energy efficient and emit 20% less GHG, we have built 40 LEED Platinum® certified Green Buildings

Setting the Benchmark

ITC's path-breaking journey towards building green infrastructure began in 2004 with ITC Green Centre, the headquarters of its Hotels Business in Gurugram, being accorded the highest rating in Platinum LEED® (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certification from the US Green Building Council (USGBC).

ITC's warehouse at Kapurthala, Punjab and foods factory at Khorda, Odisha have been built with a lower carbon footprint as compared to similarly benchmarked global facilities.

ITC Hotels - Pioneering Responsible Luxury

A trailblazer in green hoteliering, ITC Hotels has pioneered the credo of 'Responsible Luxury'. This is manifest in the LEED Platinum® rated super-premium luxury hotels that combine cutting-edge technology and innovation together with design integration setting new benchmarks in energy efficiency, water efficiency, solid waste recycling and carbon reduction.

Contribution to National Priorities

ITC's interventions to build green infrastructure are aligned to India's net-zero targets.
