ITC's Paperboards and Specialty Papers Division has secured the first prize in the BRICS Industrial Innovation Contest 2024 for its project titled "Chemicals Consumption Reduction in Kraft Pulp Mill", under the "Intelligent Manufacturing, Intelligent Equipment" category, implemented at the Bhadrachalam unit in Telangana. The competition attracted over 1,350 submissions from more than 10 member countries of the BRICS partnership forum.
The project developed a Process Digital Twin Model for the pulping line to optimize end-to-end chemical consumption in the Kraft Pulp Mill, improving yield, boosting productivity, and reducing environmental impact.
The contest aimed to foster international collaboration in key areas, cultivate new quality productivity talents, promote the implementation of cutting-edge technology projects, and further the goals of the BRICS New Industrial Revolution Partnership.
The award-winning project has been included in the BRICS Industrial Innovation Cooperation Project Database and published in the 2024 BRICS Industrial Innovation Competition Excellent Project Collection Library.
