ITC's social investment initiatives help communities enhance their livelihoods for today and also enables them to grow sustainably and journey toward a brighter future. These latter programmes build capabilities for tomorrow, and include initiatives in education, skill building and more, recognizing that the lack of decent education prevents millions from fulfilling their aspirations.
Interventions under the programme are aimed at disadvantaged children who cannot easily access schooling, academic guidance and are at risk of dropping out. The fundamental idea is to build child-friendly schools, creating enabling conditions so that more underprivileged children stay in school and complete their school education with good learning outcomes, better skills and abilities.
Under this programme, interventions help build learning retention. It also facilitates the bridging of gender and social category gaps in elementary education and improving the quality of learning. At the same time, there are measures for teacher capabilities provisions for providing proper infrastructure at schools. The intervention is closely aligned to the national 'Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan' scheme.
